Volunteers are critical to the success of Livonia Orioles. Parents are required to volunteer 4 times during the season (per family, not per child). Players and cheerleaders lose veteran status & will not be invited to attend our end of the year Banquet, if parents do not fulfill their volunteer requirement. Listed below are the many volunteer opportunities Livonia Orioles offers parents.
Game Day Volunteer Positions
50/50 Tickets & Bathroom clean up – AFTER CHECKING IN, report to concession stand. Sell 50/50 tickets throughout the stands during the 1st, 2nd & 3rd quarters. Drawing will be at the beginning of the 4th quarter. During the 4th quarter volunteers should restock bathroom with supplies, empty small trash bins in stalls, sweep floor & empty large trash can if needed.
Concessions – AFTER CHECKING IN, report to concession stand. Sell concessions and prepare food throughout the shift. May be asked to assist at Grill if needed. The shift ends at the end of your game, or for varsity when cleanup is complete.
Grilling – AFTER CHECKING IN, report to concession stand. Grill hot dogs and hamburgers/cheeseburgers. May be asked to assist in Concessions if needed. The shift ends at the end of your game, or for varsity when cleanup is complete.
Game Announcer – AFTER CHECKING IN, report to press box. Introduces football players, cheerleaders, and coaches at the start of the game. Announces the game, plays music and gives announcements throughout the game and makes miscellaneous announcements (e.g., concessions, 50/50 raffle, etc.). Basic script & rosters will be provided.
Scoreboard - AFTER CHECKING IN, report to press box. Starts and stops the clock when signaled by the referee and runs the scoreboard.
Spotter - AFTER CHECKING IN, report to press box. Identifies the players that participate in the play for the announcer. Rosters will be provided.
Photographer - AFTER CHECKING IN, report to field. Takes pictures of players and cheerleaders during the game, uploads pictures to the Shutterfly site within 1 week of game day.
Concession Set-up - AFTER CHECKING IN with field director or director, report to concession stand. Arrive at concession stand at 7:00 AM game day to assist in the setup for the day. Assist with getting the concession area operational for the day. Check list of duties will be provided to you. It is helpful if you have previously worked in the concessions during a game.
Chain Gang / Down Marker - AFTER CHECKING IN, report to field. The chain gang consists of 3 people. Two people hold the yard markers for the referees. The third person holds the down marker. The chain gang moves up and down the field with the yard markers as directed by the referees.
Yearbook Squad Coordinator - Be a part of creating a special keepsake for our football players and cheerleaders to have at the end of the season! Our Yearbook Designer will work with the Photography Coordinators and team photographers to help gather everyone’s favorite photos to be included in the yearbook. Our Yearbook Designer will work together to build the yearbook, using online software. If you are interested, please email Heather Flack at theflacks05@gmail.com
AM Field Director Helper – Arrive at 7am. checking in, report to our Field Director, Cody Hufftaker. Assist with setting up the field & concession stand for the day. Must be able to carry and lift tables and benches. You must be able stay at the field until 9am. May be asked to help if we have a special event planned for that day.
Mid-Day Clean-up – AFTER CHECKING IN, report to concession stand. You will be responsible for cleaning and restocking bathrooms, emptying all trash cans, clean up any trash on the ground around concession stand and bleachers, clean up the trash from under the bleachers, and bring all trash to dumpster.
PM Field Director Helper & End of day Clean-up crew - AFTER CHECKING IN, report to our Field Director/Concession Manager. Break down field and return all equipment to the shed neatly, help empty all trash cans and load them into the dumpster, pick up any trash on or around the field, help pack up concession stand, clean & restock bathrooms, sweep bathroom floors, empty all trash cans in bathroom, wipe down toilets & sinks, clean up trash under bleachers.
